Our initiative
We can’t hear it enough these days, upskilling is one of the most urgent challenges the workforce faces. Everyone joining or already in the workforce needs to think about how’s, when’s and where’s of upskilling and reskilling themselves on a regular basis.
Why is that?
The digital skills gap is widening, and fast. Rapid advances in AI, robotics and other technologies are happening in ever shorter cycles, propelling us into a new era of automation. This is changing the nature of jobs – and the skills needed to do them – faster than ever before.
The last two years of pandemic and its far-reaching effects on digitization and innovation have accelerated this trend. New skills are needed, new jobs are going to be created.
New developments such as remote working and e-commerce will continue to offer occasions for growth. But to keep pace with technology and the shift towards sustainability, we will need to upskill and reskill ourselves on a regular basis in the future. And the future starts now: Recent LinkedIn data shows skillsets for jobs have changed by around 25% since 2015. By 2027, this number is expected to double.
So, what do we have to do to prepare for such a rapidly changing future?
Navigating the challenges to close the skills gap require a renewed partnership between stakeholders across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. To that end, Microsoft launched its global skills initiative in 2020, aiming at bringing more digital skills to millions of people around the world.
For the Swiss market, Campbell & Jones, supported by Microsoft Switzerland and the Adecco Group Switzerland, launched “Skills for Switzerland” in 2021. Building on digital technology and data, this initiative aims at helping grow a more digital-savvy and inclusive skills-based economy. We want to help the Swiss workforce and next generations to prepare for the skills and jobs of the future – in short, to upskill.
What do we do at Skills for Switzerland?
We work with communities, non-profits, and government organizations to help job seekers, students, and the wider Swiss workforce gain the foundational, role-based, and technical skills needed for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
Cloud, AI, data analysis, digital marketing? Yes, please! And much more… We offer further training opportunities in various digital and tech-focused areas with the clear goal of advancing the digital knowledge of the Swiss population.
Our platform provides a wide range of information on the how’s, when’s and where’s of upskilling, specific training courses and certificates, potential learning paths for you and me, and events and community activities to attend to exchange ideas and get inspired. Choose your learning path and acquire new digital skills – at your own pace.
In addition to the extensive range of courses, certificates and events, the integrated job portal of the Adecco Group Switzerland directly shows matching job opportunities.
Last but not least, we want to create a community of the “upskilling interested”: professionals young and lesser young, students, job seekers, job changers as well as career coaches and learning and skilling professionals at companies large and small. We want to learn from each other, be inspired by each other’s career paths, and gather ideas for action.
